ABSTRACT
Whipple's disease is a rare chronic infectious caused by Tropheryma whipplei. The infection mainly affects the small intestine of middle-aged patients, approximately three times more often in males than females causing malabsorption and excessive weight loss but other organs may be affected as well.We describe case 42-year-old woman with history diarrhea evolving for at least last 6 years. diagnosis was confirmed histopathological examination duodenal biopsy samples Periodic acid-Schiff positive macrophages polymerase chain reaction technique detecting DNA patient commenced on several antimicrobials including beta-lactams co-trimoxazole she did not improve. Finally, after-long lasting i.v. tigecycline 100 mg BID p.o. doxycycline along hydroxychloroquine 200 TID one year after alone.The intriguing thing this only natural resistance to that controlled empirically long-lasting since failed attempts discontinue treatment followed. This might due erratic absorption oral drugs gut inflammation.To our knowledge, first successfully treated induction parenteral followed alone.
