ABSTRACT
Purpose: The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy peritoneal lavage with coconut water in healing colonic anastomoses a model abdominal sepsis rats. Methods: Twelve Wistar rats were used. animals randomly selected and distributed 2 groups, six each. Group 1: + 0.9% saline solution 2: water. Induction performed through exteriorization cecum ligature. After ligation, 4 perforations gentle pressure made cecum, allowing small amount stool escape. then replaced cavity incision sutured. Six hours after induction sepsis, under anesthesia all animals, cm colon resection anastomosis performed. therapy repeated 3 times, each wash 5 ml solution, which remained for 1 minute removed sterile dry gauze. Coconut obtained from Cocus nucifera L specimens, technique administration animals. Results: In group bursting 196.3±17.47 mmHg, significantly higher (p=0.001) than group, (152.8±12.31 mm/Hg). presented histological scores (p<0.001) lower inflammatory process (score 14.8±3.13) compared 31.7±4.92). count colony forming units (CFU) fluid (16.0±7.32 CFU) (83.5±8.62 CFU). Conclusion: treatment using positively afluenced It favored pressure, reduction process, bacterial colonization.
