ABSTRACT
India is growing old! The stark reality of the ageing scenario in that there are 77 million older persons today, and number to grow 177 another 25 years. With life expectancy having increased from 40 years 1951 64 a person today has 20 more live than he would have 50 back. However, this not without problems. kind an scenario, pressure on all aspects care for – be it financial, health or shelter. As twenty first century arrives, security very visible. people living longer, households getting smaller congested, causing stress joint extended families. Even where they co residing marginalization, isolation insecurity felt among due generation gap change lifestyles. In context study was conducted understand feeling elderly family setup Chapra district. sample women selected using purposively” sampling” technique select setup. Among women, 10 were widows. data collected specially designed interview schedule observation through door survey these Non working status above 60 age criteria selection. Results revealed most attitude younger unsatisfactory. terms respect, love affection members instead considered as burden other. Women families had negative towards old because neglected by off spring.
