ABSTRACT
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is characterized by cognitive impairment and different non-cognitive deficits called “Behavioural psychological symptoms of dementia” (BPSD) related to neurotrophin alterations, which differ from those presented in normal aging. Mouse models, both transgenics inbreed mice models AD, are a useful tool understanding the underlying mechanisms disease. The SAMP8 (senescence-accelerated mouse prone 8) line was generated AKR/J strain Professor Toshio Takeda at University Kyoto. This exhibited particular early-onset accelerated aging phenotype. present study characterizes provides information regarding states as well molecular alterations their relationship, demonstrating AD-like older males. accompanied reduction sociability an increase aggressive anxiety behaviours. Furthermore, changes three most important neurotrophins, such NT3, BDNF, NGF receptors TrkA TrkB, were found. Thus, results reveal new insights this inbred model neurodegeneration potential relationship between neuropsychiatric disorders (ND).
