ABSTRACT
Clove (Syzygium aromaticum L. Myrtaceae) is an aromatic plant widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical countries, rich volatile compounds antioxidants such as eugenol, &beta;-caryophyllene, &alpha;-humulene. essential oil has received considerable interest due to its wide application the perfumery, cosmetic, health, medical, flavoring, food industries. relevant biological activities human including antimicrobial, antioxidant, insecticide. This review describes effect of extraction method (hydrodistillation, steam distillation, ultrasound-assisted extraction, microwave-assisted cold pressing, supercritical fluid extraction) on chemical composition correlation with their activities.
