The Effect of On-Site and On-Call Nurse on Exclusive Breastfeeding: Comparison of Two Different Hospital Settings

ABSTRACT
Background: Exclusively breastfeeding your newborn while in the hospital is imperative for suc-cessful at home. This study will investigate if having a nurse on-site during rooming-in can enhance proportion of exclusive breastfeeding. Methods: We carried out prospective cohort to assess first three months life among two Neona-tology Units Southern Italy with different settings. The Ente Ecclesiastico Miulli Ac-quaviva delle Fonti had nurses available 24/7 (on-site group), Policlinico Bari on call from Neonatology Unit (on-call group).
