ABSTRACT
Background. Hypothyroidism is very common worldwide. It known to be associated with frailty which in turn, increased morbidity and mortality the elderlies. Low ALT blood activity an established marker for sarcopenia frailty. The incidence outcomes of association low values hypothyroidism, as manifested elevated TSH levels, unknown. Methods. This was a retrospective analysis hospitalized patients large, tertiary hospital. Results. Over period 21 years, overall population 16,827 were identified eligible participate this study. Within study 726 (4.3%) classified suffering from hypothyroidism (TSH > 6 MIU/L) 2,184 (13%) (ALT < 12 IU/L). our patients’ population, statistically significant manner (p = 0.011). Patients both had significantly shorter survival: A multivariate showed that frail hypothyroid group risk coming 5 years (HR 3.6; CI 2.75-4.71; p 0.001). Conclusions. Sarcopenia are comorbidities, bearing negative long-term clinical outcomes. could serve useful biomarker screening already diagnosed hypothyroidism.
