ABSTRACT
This work proposes a High-Brightness LED (HB-LED) driver for Visible Light Communication (VLC) based on two converters, high frequency Buck DC/DC converter and low Boost converter, connected in series with respect to the load parallel at input. topology is called Series/Parallel Boost/Buck Converter. A VLC system needs do different tasks: biasing HB-LED generating communication signal. These typically have power requirements, bias 3/4, while 1/4 of total power. The requirements each are also different: signal requires frequency, fast output response, control slow voltage response. proposed architecture takes advantage differences between tasks achieves efficiency performance by means splitting converters. generates signal, responsible LEDs. technique allows most DC be processed (achieving efficiency), keeping delivering performance). To provide experimental results, was built validated reproducing 64-QAM bit rate up 1.5 Mbps, reaching 91.5% overall efficiency.
