ABSTRACT
To compare the hemodynamic and clinical outcomes following mitral valve replacement with Perimount those of Mosaic valve.A total 145 consecutive patients rheumatic heart disease who underwent single bioprosthetic were randomized to receive either (n=72) or bioprosthesis (n=73). The mean age was 72.1 years (range, 58-89 years) a sex distribution 55.2% female 44.8% male. Patients follow up transthoracic echocardiography at 3 months 1 year postoperatively. We compared demographics, preoperative data, operative profiles, outcomes. The cross-clamp time similar, 50.7±15.3 minutes for 50.7±21.8 bioprosthesis. bypass also 91.3±25.7 87.8±25.6 valve. peak pressure gradients lower in group all sizes difference statistically significant year. effective orifice area (EOA) slightly larger (1.98±0.21 vs. 1.89±0.71 cm2, P=0.538) postoperatively, but there no There differences postoperative left atrium diameter (LAD), ventricular diastolic (LVDD), systolic (LVSD), ejection fraction (LVEF), pulmonary artery (PAP). mortality major complications rate similar between two groups. The prostheses is superior after replacement, achieving EOA when on basis manufacturer-labeled sizes. Both valves appear provide satisfactory results.
