ABSTRACT
We analyzed Brazil's efforts in reducing child mortality, improving maternal and health, socioeconomic regional inequalities from 1990 through 2007. compiled reanalyzed data several sources, including vital statistics population-based surveys. also explored the roles of broad demographic changes introduction health sector other reform measures explaining improvements observed. Our findings provide compelling evidence that proactive to reduce disparities accompanied by progress can result measurable children mothers a relatively short interval. analysis successes remaining challenges reach surpass Millennium Development Goals 4 5 important lessons for low- middle-income countries.
