Global Prison Health Care Governance and Health Equity: A Critical Lack of Evidence

ABSTRACT
The large and growing population of people who experience incarceration makes prison health an essential component public a critical setting for reducing inequities. People have high burden physical mental care needs poor outcomes. Addressing these disparities requires effective governance accountability services, including delivery quality in custody integration with community services.Despite the importance governance, little is known about how services are structured funded or methods processes by which they held accountable. A number national subnational jurisdictions moved under their ministry health, alignment recommendations World Health Organization United Nations Office on Drugs Crime. However, there lack evidence current models urgent need evaluation research, particularly low- middle-income countries.Here we discuss why understanding implementing addressing inequities at global level.
