ABSTRACT
This review aims to determine the elements a hospital-based knee arthroplasty program should consider when developing rapid recovery protocol. It will examine perioperative pathway and how can break down each phase for success. Secondary objectives of this include why culture surrounding has changed it is in hospital's best interest adopt light new landscape. An extensive search was performed through databases which included Still OneSearch, EBSCOhost, PubMed. Sources aligned with review's objectives. Inclusion criteria involved primary sources, secondary peer-reviewed articles less than 5 years old. On finding reference sections provided additional materials ensure high-quality research. Outpatient gained past 10 years, protocols have helped promote likely development. The rapidly changing landscape triggered by insurance companies pushed even further because COVID-19 pandemic. Developing protocol hospital setting involves change overall culture, interprofessional participation, patient family cooperation. Although not an easy task, adopting been shown improve outcomes decreasing length stay, complications, increasing discharge home rates. Along improved outcomes, we improvements satisfaction cost savings.
