ABSTRACT
Background. Public health research is concerned with population health, determinants of systems research, promotion, environmental protection, disease prevention and in other fields public health. During the last decades, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) are more often entering field research. This paper presents results work within SPHERE (Strengthening Health Research Europe), a European Commission funded study aimed to gather information produce knowledge on state Europe.Methods. A questionnaire survey was developed conducted among NGOs enrolled database held by Alliance (EPHA). There were 80 replies, response rate for that members EPHA 53%.Results. no significant statistical differences responses when analysed three groups ['old' member states (EU 15), accession 2004 10) EU-associated countries]. The reported relatively large international experience, expressed participation practice work. main priorities general ADHD, obesity, nutrition, tobacco control. showed low correlation between their proposed priorities.Conclusion. growing numbers Europe indicates interest also priorities.
