ABSTRACT
To evaluate the diagnostic utility of The Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytology (TBSRTC) at Peking University Cancer Hospital, incidence noninvasive follicular thyroid neoplasms with papillary-like nuclear features (NIFTP), and impact reclassification on cytopathological outcomes. We performed a retrospective study fine-needle aspiration (FNA) cases between April 2014 March 2019. FNA results were classified according to TBSRTC. Post-surgery histological findings followed up.A total 2,781 FNAs performed. incidences 6 categories (DCs I-VI) 14.8%, 17.1%, 15.8%, 2.3%, 11.6% 38.5%, respectively. A 1,122 patients (40.3%) had corresponding results. NIFTP accounted 0.4% papillary carcinoma (PTC) cases, there was no significant difference in risk malignancy (ROM) each TBSRTC DC "NIFTP=carcinoma (Ca)" "NIFTP≠Ca". When "NIFTP=Ca", sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), negative (NPV), accuracy 98.0%, 84.0%, 99.4%, 58.3%, 97.5%, "NIFTP≠Ca", PPV, NPV 98.1%, 81.5%, 99.3%, 61.1%, respectively.TBSRTC is effective preoperative diagnosis nodules Hospital. outcomes limited because its low incidence, revised ROMs are not suitable Asian patients.
