Physical, Behavioral and Sociodemographic determinants of hypertension among adult population in Nekemte town, western Ethiopia: Community based study.

ABSTRACT
Abstract Objectives Although hypertension is a growing public health problem in many developing countries there inadequacy of scientific evidences on community based level among the population. The study aimed at exploring prevalence and associated factors adults Nekemte town, Ethiopia. Community cross sectional was conducted 711 selected by multistage sampling procedure data obtained interview. Height, Weight, Blood Pressure waist circumference were measured with standard procedures. Data analyzed SPSS 20 version multiple logistic regression models used to determine independent risk for hypertension.Result overall 34.9% which only about half (52.7%) them knew that they hypertensive 22.4% medication. Older age; age group >65 year (AOR =5.85, 95% CI; 1.74-20), 41-64 = 2.6, 1.49-4.57), Obesity overweight =1.71, 1.09-2.67), chat chewers past =2.44, 1.05-5.68) lower educational status =2.75, 1.26-6.03) had higher hypertension.
