ABSTRACT
The citrus leafminer, Phyllocnistis citrella Stainton (Lepidoptera: Gracillariidae), is a key pest in most citrus-growing regions worldwide. Adult leafminers oviposit primarily on young elongating flush of Citrus as well other Rutaceae and some ornamental plants. Larvae feed the epidermal cell layer developing leaves injury to provides pathway for infection by bacterium Xanthomonas citri subsp. (Hasse), causal agent Asiatic canker. In this study, we quantified abundance leafminer larvae progeny 87 seed parent genotypes relatives (family Rutaceae) field East–central Florida identify those that have low leafminers. Progeny from varied leafminer. 15 had high mean more than six per shoot. All but one these were genus. 16 zero, or nearly leafminers, none However, many genera closely related true (subtribe Citrinae) are sexually compatible with . two subfamily Toddalioideae Glycosmis pentaphylla (Retz.) Corr. also poor host Asian psyllid, Diaphorina Kuwayama, has biochemical resistance weevil, Diaprepes abbreviatus (L.), so genotype others identified hosts may prove useful breeding programs aimed at reducing multiple insect pests citrus.
