ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT This paper was presented as part of the symposium entitled “Post‐Green Revolution Trends in Crop Yield Potential: Increasing, Stagnant or Greater Resistance to Stress.” In this presentation, we have focused on (i) uses marker technology determining genetic basis phenotypic expression and manipulation variation plants. included use markers understanding heterosis, attempts improve hybrid predictions, quantitative trait locus (QTL) identification mapping, marker‐assisted selection (MAS), enhancing breeding success development improved lines hybrids; (ii) role genomics developing a precise which will then provide more precision variation; (iii) some integrate into empirical strategies. addition, what has been successful well fallen short expectations, suggested possible reasons for lack success. Because page limitations, could not include an exhaustive review plant literature limited many our examples investigations maize ( Zea mays L).
