An Enhanced and Optimized Monte Carlo Method to Calculate View Factors in Packed Beds

ABSTRACT
This paper proposes a novel method based on Monte Carlo Ray Tracing for high-precision and low time computation processing of view factors in random assemblies cylindrical packed beds. The is improved by coupling it with Kowsary’s tangent sphere under the parallel through Compute Unified Device Architecture, showing reduction computational approximately 153 times less than traditional hardware used obtaining maximum relative error 0.39% configurations evaluated literature. Furthermore, calculation methodology between particle-particle particle-wall an original layer concept, particle-lid presented applied set randomly assembled monosized beds generated LIGGGHTS software, covering average porosity range from 0.38 to 0.50 arrays. Finally, detailed analysis discussion results are performed, allowing find characteristic particles according their positions correlations as function particle-surface distance, considering intervals each interaction respectively, defining factor within studied range.
