ABSTRACT
The modeling of heat transfer in fibrous materials is important for designing and improving thermal insulation systems. At high temperatures low sample density, radiation expected to be the primary mode insulation. Currently, most common successful models modelling at require use semi-empirical methods. main limitation this approach that model parameters need determined from measurements each possible material re-determined if morphological structure modified, even same material. This paper presents a predictive based solely on physical properties. was validated using experimental determinations effective conductivity low-density alumina-based demonstrates good agreement with measurements, its predictions fall within uncertainty limits between 800 K 1900 K.
