ABSTRACT
In highway tunnels, the presence of a cavity behind lining can affect contact between and surrounding rock, leading to concentration pressure from rock acceleration cracking in tunnel structure. Thus, such cavities pose significant safety hazards. However, due complexity interaction it is challenging clarify mechanism damage caused by cavity. this study, we developed mechanical model for testing linings tunnels conducted numerical simulations bearing capacity cavities. The results showed that arch crown significantly affected overall structure along with stress state deformation lining, at lining. contrast, effects single voids shoulder waist were relatively small. When was located on one side effect coefficient became more as deviation angle center increased. This study provides an essential reference detecting evaluating during operation when are present
