ABSTRACT
Artemether, a commonly used artemisinin derivative, has been shown to possess potential antidiabetic activities. However, only limited information is available on the mechanisms of artemether in type 2 diabetes. Therefore, this study, we examined some possible (ATM) upon glycolipid metabolism db/db mouse model diabetes.Male C57BL/KsJ-db/db and C57BL/KsJ-db/+ mice at 4 weeks age were divided into four groups (N=6/group): (1) NC (normal control - db/+ mice, 1% methylcellulose, intragastric administration), (2) DM (diabetic (3) ATM 100 (DM + mg/kg artemether) (4) 200 artemether). A number assays related diabetes then performed following 4-week period these treatments.Artemether both doses significantly reduced rates weight gain fasting blood glucose levels, improved islet function insulin resistance serum lipid levels varying degrees mice. Artemether exerted positive effect vacuolar degeneration hepatic steatosis, increased expressions AMP-activated protein kinase, transporter Insulin receptor β liver With use chip detection, found that immune microenvironment, down-regulated expression inflammatory factors activated cytokine-mediated signaling pathway through cytokine-cytokine interactions.Artemether may regulate by improving microenvironment. The results study provide important new can serve as foundation for future research means improve metabolism.
