ABSTRACT
Purpose: To describe perifoveal microvascular changes occurring in X-linked juvenile retinoschisis (XLRS) using swept source optical coherence tomography angiography (SS OCTA). Patients and methods: This is a serial case report of three patients. Retrospective data patients affected by XLRS were collected. Structural (OCT) color fundus photography (CFPh) carried out with Topcon ® OCT 2000 3D as part the standard care. Two imaged on Atlantis SS OCTA one Triton OCTA. images acquired 3 × mm fovea-centered cubes scanning protocol. Analysis both superficial vascular plexus (pSVP) deep (pDVP) was performed two observers after automated segmentation. Results: Four eyes males (mean age 14 ± 3.8 years) analyzed. All showed foveoschisis CFPh images. B-scans schistic cysts ganglion cell layer, inner nuclear layer (INL) outer (ONL); eye, depicted INL ONL only. In eyes, abnormal foveal avascular zone (FAZ) shape pSVP, other two, FAZ plexuses. all retinal abnormalities (ie, protrusions) present pDVP. Conclusion: can depict young XLRS. this study, structural seem to be more evident pDVP may represent useful biomarker prognosis. Keywords: retina, pediatric ophthalmology, OCT, angiography,
