ABSTRACT
For many years, chest-X-ray (CXR) has been used as a diagnostic tool to complement clinical diagnosis of bacteriologically negative tuberculosis (TB) cases. Increased erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) was also laboratory surrogates augment the bacteriological test TB The objective this study evaluate performance CXR and ESR in comparison with geneXpert® for case notification among PLHIV resource-limited setting. An institution-based cross-sectional carried out from February 1, 2018-January 31, 2019. During regular HIV-clinic visits, PLHIVs were assessed using National WHO screening tool, those positive results further evaluated ESR, sputum AFB GeneXpert®. Patients interviewed demographic data standardized tool. Collected analyzed SPSS 21. Frequency, percentage, cross tabulation proportion describe variables importance. Logistic regression assess factors affecting findings. Kappa reliability, p-value <0.05 considered significant.A total 384 patients presumptive TB-HIV co-infection included which 165 (43.0%) diagnosed have TB, 79 (53.3%) these confirmed by GeneXpert®, remaining 77 (46.7%) cases judgment, ESR. sensitivity, specificity, predictive value 67.9%, 77.3%, 43.8%, 90.3%, that 49.4%, 55.1%, 22.1%, 83.0%, respectively. overall agreement between GeneXpert® good kappa 0.38 while poor 0.028.CXR work plays an unprecedented role little significance evaluation TB.
