ABSTRACT
Palpation during intubation could be used as an ancillary method of providing real-time information the endotracheal tube (ETT) placement before manual ventilation. This study aimed to evaluate ability discriminate ETT location using a modified palpation with preloaded stylet intubation. The examiner performing placed three fingers on lateral sides trachea between sternal notch and thyroid cartilage determine if was successful. Endotracheal confirmed by auscultation quantitative carbon dioxide waveform capnography.Eighty-eight patients were enrolled in this study. The discrimination accuracy 98.9% (95% CI: 93.8-99.8) for identifying esophagus. There one false negative, reported esophageal rather than tracheal is instantly applicable technique good ability. addition through conventional process, especially poor vocal cord visualization, would useful facilitate process safe careful intubation.
