A Narrative Inquiry into the Caring Experience of the Mothers of Adult Children with Developmental Disabilities

본 연구는 성인 발달장애 자녀 어머니의 돌봄 경험과 그 의미를 탐구하기 위해 내러티브 탐구 방법론으로 수행되었다. 연구의 참여자는 만 18세 이상의 자녀를 돌보는 어머니 3명이다. 자료 수집을 위한 심층 면접은 2021년 12월부터 2022년 2월까지 참여자당 2~3회 실시되었다. 수집과 분석 및 글쓰기를 Clandinin과 Connelly(2000)가 제시한 절차를 적용하였다. 참여자들의 경험의 의미는 <모성 정체성의 혼돈>, <나의 한계를 수용>, <끝까지 책임을 다하기>, <고통을 함께 뛰어넘기>로 나타났다. 어머니들의 총체적으로 탐색하여 이에 대한 심도 있는 이해를 제공하였고, 어머니와 가족 지원을 효과적 서비스와 상담을 제공하는 데 기여할 것이다.Objectives: This study explores the experience and meaning of caring among mothers adult children with developmental disabilities. Methods: research applied narrative inquiry approach in engagement three disabilities aged over 18 based on data retrieved from two to conversations each participant December 2021 February 2022. Inquiries explored participants’ experiences order analyze field text dimensional spaces temporality, sociality place as proposed by Clandinin Connelly (2000). Results: Themes identified includes “Crisis maternal identity”, “Accepting my limits a mother”, “Taking mothering fate”, “Transforming pain.”. Conclusions: Results show suggest significance meaning-making enduring hardship transforming mothering. Implications findings for counseling future are discussed.
