ABSTRACT
Background: Agro-industrial wastes from the citrus juice processing industry are of main concern. The presence volatile oils and phenolic compounds in orange sweet lime peels exhibited various biological activities. Aim: Comparative evaluation peel extracts against urinary tract infection causing bacteria their antioxidant potential. Methods: Mature were purchased local market. Peel samples dried powdered, alcoholic hydro-alcoholic prepared. Samples analyzed for total content flavonoid content. Further, activity was using DDPH scavenging method. antibacterial Gram-positive E. faecalis, S. saprophyticus, Gram-negative P. mirabilis K. pneumoniae disc diffusion Results: these also showed high phenols, i.e., 13.20 ± 0.105 mg/ml Sweet Lime Extract (SLPE) 7.64 0.04 Orange (OPE), 1.659 0.06 mg QE/ml SLPE 2.14 0.09 OPE. This contributed to activities, which DPPH 85.95 0.099 % OPE 89.31 0.126 SLPE. sample inhibitory activities tested bacteria. pneumonia comparatively more susceptible saprophyticus Conclusion: Citrus promising activity; therefore, can be a potential alternative synthetic agents.
