ABSTRACT
Abstract Optimizing the efficiency of urban water systems is a growing concern for utilities worldwide. Wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) are crucial in maintaining quality and resource recovery world facing challenges such as climate change, water-energy-food nexus increase legal requirements users' expectations. Thus, adopting performance assessment system (PAS) utmost importance to assess operating conditions identify critical aspects WWTP which can negatively affect its effectiveness, reliability. This paper presents global operational an identifies improvement measures. The presented good terms effectiveness Nevertheless, efficiency, relevant opportunities were identified, specifically sludge phase energy management. PAS was proven be successful identification prioritization rehabilitation needs systematic way will continuously improve well support asset management decisions regarding their upgrade retrofit.
