Epidemiological aspects of 306 emergency cases of small animals seen at a veterinary school hospital

ABSTRACT
The deficiencies in the screening protocols and paucity of epidemiological studies aimed at emergency care contribute to a generalist approach, without focusing on most common causes injuries admissions veterinary practice. Thus, we retrospectively study aspects cases dogs cats under routine school hospital University X over 24 months (June 2012–June 2014). During this period, 328 were considered as emergencies, which 306 included study. main both species trauma, followed by hypovolemic shock. third cause differed between species, being neurological emergencies urinary cats. Knowledge data pet clinic is essential for clinical surveillance, case screening, early diagnosis, rapid therapeutic intervention, avoiding losses waiting rooms medicine.
