ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to evaluate comparatively the effect fluoride (F) on activity matrix metalloproteinases 2 and 9 (MMP-2 MMP-9) involved in process alveolar bone repair. Material methods: This used 4 groups Wistar rats with 80 days life (n = 160) which received drinking water containing different doses (NaF): 5, 15, 50 ppm deionized (control) throughout experiment. These animals had their right upper incisors extracted. After extraction, were euthanized at 7, 14, 21 30 hemi-maxillae collected for microscopic analysis (Hematoxylin Eosin immunohistochemistry zymography 9). Results: Microscopically repair similar all groups, being noted only a delay blood clot resorption formation group F. expression MMP-9 showed differences between during initial (7 days). However, no significant treated control groups. Conclusion: Ours results suggest an MMPs period could be associated remission Further studies are needed establish relationship clot, involvement its regulators/tissue inhibitors.
