ABSTRACT
Background and Objective: Dizziness is a common complication of gastrointestinal endoscopy under general anesthesia. primarily caused by lack energy blood volume following fasting water deprivation. Hypertonic glucose solution (HGS) an intravenous replenishment, that increases due to its hyperosmotic characteristics can be directly absorbed from circulation. This study aimed HGS prevent dizziness after endoscopy. Methods: was double-blind, randomized, controlled study. Eligible patients were randomly allocated into two groups based on the agent administered before endoscopy: Group A, saline (0.9%; 20 mL); group B, (50%; mL). Overall, 840 included in statistical analysis. The scores incidence assessed. Results: score higher A than B (1.92 ± 0.08 vs. 0.92 0.06; p < 0.01). mild moderate-to-severe significantly lower (40.10% 51.78% 3.10% 19.72%, respectively; males females (30.81% 51.82% 0.64 1.12 0.08, 0.01) pretreatment with HGS. Conclusion: Pretreatment effectively prevents mechanism action unclear but might related body replacement increase administration. registration number: ChiCTR1900020887.
