Administration of the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure: Effect on practice

ABSTRACT
The Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM) is recommended as a systematic approach to identify issues and determine client progress in occupational therapy, yet little empirical evidence available that supports this practice.To if COPM administration was associated with changes eight dimensions of therapy practice.Twenty-four therapists on geriatric rehabilitation sites completed before-and-after study repeated baseline. practice were assessed after three months usual care (no use) intervention (COPM using chart stimulated recall (CSR) interviews audit.Mean scores for CSR indicated statistically significant improvement (p < .0001) across the dimensions, including knowledge perspective, clinical decision making, clinician ability articulate outcomes, documentation. Chart audit use resulted identifying more occupation-focused issues.COPM could improve practice.
