Transboundary nature protection as a means of preserving peace in Kosovo and neighboring regions

ABSTRACT
This article contains insights into the creation of transboundary protected areas, their features, relationship between nature protection and achieving maintaining peace in a global regional context. Using various cases, goals, benefits, advantages cooperation are elaborated, with particular emphasis on areas peace. Regardless causes that lead to disputes conflicts states, many them occur areas. Conflicts over disputed border lines becoming more frequent, some pose serious threat important biodiversity geodiversity sites around world. Therefore, concept parks offers an alternative tensions crisis conflict hotspots via joint management natural heritage environment, involving multiple stakeholders, local communities playing role as first immediate beneficiaries such cooperation. Despite numerous benefits offered by protection, there only few examples Balkans, mostly initial stages. its relatively small territory, Kosovo has very heterogeneous conditions, morphological units.
