Estimated Prevalence and Incidence of Adult Still's Disease: Findings by a Nationwide Epidemiological Survey in Japan

ABSTRACT
To estimate prevalence and incidence of adult Still's disease in Japan, to describe the epidemiological features patients, a nationwide survey was conducted 1994. The study consisted two questionnaires which were distributed heads relevant departments, randomly sampled, hospitals throughout Japan. Following major findings emerged from study: (a) total annual number patients treated for estimated as 1, 100 1993 crude among those aged 16 years or older calculated 0.73 1.47 per 100, 000 population males females, respectively, with corresponding rate 0.22 0.34. (b) sex ratio (female male) reported 2.1. This female predominance might be specific though additional surveys other countries will warranted. mean age 38.1 years, tended than male ones; 50% 40 older, while so did only 28% patients.
