ABSTRACT
In the last decade, 3D virtual models have been used for educational purposes in health sciences, specifically teaching human anatomy and pathology. These provide an opportunity to didactically visualize key spatial relations that can be poorly understood when taught by traditional approaches. Caries lesion detection is a crucial process dentistry has reported difficult learn. One especially aspect linking clinical characteristics of different severity stages with their histological features, which fundamental treatment decision-making.This project was designed develop digital model caries formation progression aid lesions at as potential complement lectures.Pedagogical planning, including identification objectives, exploration degree difficulty diagnosis-associated topics perceived dental students lecturers, review literature regarding concepts, consultation experts, performed prior constructing model. An script strategy created based on addressed (dental tissues, biofilm stagnation areas, demineralization process, occlusal surfaces, related progression, correlations). Virtual were developed using Man Project refined multiple software applications. next phase, computer graphic modelling previsualization executed. After that, video revised edited suggestions. Finally, explanatory subtitles generated, textured rendered, voiceovers 3 languages implemented. We 6-minute dynamic (English, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese) intended dentists support learning detection. The videos made available YouTube; date, they received more than 100,000 views.Complementary pedagogical tools are valuable cariology education. This tool will further tested terms utility usability well user satisfaction achieving proposed objectives specific contexts.
