Feasibility of Sexual Health and Contraceptive Web Services for Adolescents and Young Adults: Retrospective Study of a Pilot Program on Reunion Island

Abstract Background Sexual health indicators for adolescents and young adults (AYAs) aged between 13 25 years are particularly poor on Reunion Island. Access to accurate information as well sexual contraceptive services vital maintaining well-being. Teleconsultations offer a promising approach addressing the needs of AYAs who more susceptible engaging in unprotected intercourse. However, literature digital this demographic group is limited. Objective This study aims describe feasibility pilot teleconsultation web service used by Methods A descriptive, retrospective was conducted at Island University Hospital Center using convenient sample. Eligible participants were informed about program through various communication channels, including seminars care professionals, radio broadcasts, posters, flyers, press articles, videos, social media posts. accessed web-based platform named SEXTUOZE from December 15, 2021, September 30, 2022, that offered teleconsultations. Data collected included participant characteristics, patient satisfaction, quality completeness medical records. Results total 22 teleconsultations scheduled 7 completed, all via synchronous video (duration: median 35 min). Overall, 4731 sessions generated website. Reasons cited accessing seek advice (8/22, 36%), receive an initial birth control prescription (12/22, 55%), inquire condom prescriptions (2/22, 9%). Conclusions While use initially low, it rose toward end period. Considering elements implementation theory, future research should design interventions not only operative tailored but also ensure their adoption sustainability contexts.
