Epidemiology of Generalized Ligamentous Laxity in Iran: A National Study Including Different Iranian Ethnic Groups and its Relationship with Musculoskeletal Disorders.

ABSTRACT
Ligamentous laxity is a condition that leads to joints' hypermobility beyond their average and normal range of motion. It can cause musculoskeletal joint injuries. This national multi-centered study investigated the epidemiology generalized ligamentous its relationship with disorders among Iranian adults different ethnic backgrounds.A total 1,488 people (age range: 17-40 years) were selected from eight cities six ethnicities Iran included in this cross-sectional study. The presence clinical examinations was searched according Beighton score criteria. They also examined for any kind might accompany laxity. Chi-square test used compare frequency based on gender ethnicity; moreover, t-test utilized age.In total, 280 (18.8%) participants had laxity, it more prevalent women (22.7%), compared men (14.4%). Regarding ethnicity, highest lowest prevalence rates Gilak (37.9%) Persian-Arab (6%) ethnicities, respectively (P<0.001). showed significant sports injury, complaint, dislocation, ligament sprain, sciatica back pain, Baker's cyst, varicose veins Most (93.6%) no knowledge problem importance choosing an appropriate activity.The seems be relatively high 17-40-year-old population Iran, especially women. significantly related ethnicity. strongly recommended examinations, screening, information provided at early age schools or least areas as programs.
