Schemes of Scaffolding in Online Education

ABSTRACT
Scaffolding in learning has been argued to facilitate the students’ progress. As educational paradigm inevitably shifts into online modes, strategies for scaffolding provision need be adjusted. This study aimed understand nature of environment and explore aspects, types, methods contexts by adopting George's (2008) research method a qualitative design. The data were collected from experts' opinions previous studies, as published reputable international journals, using Education Resources Information Center (https://eric.ed.gov/), Google Scholar (https://scholar.google.com), Research Gate (https://www.researchgate.net) databases. result is presented an informal method. review reveals that critical aspects are contingency, fading, transfer responsibility, which applicable synchronous asynchronous with support provided peers, teachers, or technology through static dynamic interaction. Based on its purpose, four types procedural, conceptual, metacognitive, strategic, can performed strategically orientation course structure, access resource tools, thinking development, guidance problem-solving, provisions hints, sufficient examples, probing questions, providing constructive feedback. These findings imply importance implementing contexts, although further studies conducted provide more comprehensive models.
