ABSTRACT
Introduction: Postoperative atrial fibrillation (POAF) is a frequently reported complication of cardiac surgery, leading to increased in-hospital and long-term mortality rates. Many studies have suggested using statins protect against POAF. Thus, we aim investigate if statin pre-treatment may effectively lower the incidence Method: We performed systematic literature search PubMed for potential between January 2006 August 2021. Principal inclusion criteria were: randomized clinical trials study design; statin-naive patients; total participants ≥ 50 units. used fixed-effects model obtain odds ratio (OR) 95% confidence interval (CI) each analyzed intervention. Results: Overall, reduced POAF compared placebo (OR 0.71; CI: 0.60-0.85, p-value < 0.00001). Analyzing subclasses, atorvastatin was associated with 0.54; 0.41-0.70, = 0.002), but rosuvastatin not 0.90; 0.71-1.14, 0.38). Selecting 199 patients, results were divergent. There statistically significant difference 0.89; 0.74-1.09, 0.26), as well 0.74; 0.54-1.03, 0.08) 0.87; 0.68-1.12, 0,29). Conclusion: Statin before surgery reduction in occurrence. based upon our considering possible renal complications, discourage preventing
