ABSTRACT
To determine the prevalence of prediabetes and diabetes among rural urban Malaysians.This cross-sectional survey was conducted 3,879 Malaysian adults (1,335 men 2,544 women). All subjects underwent 75-g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT).The overall 22.1% (30.2% in 69.8% Isolated impaired fasting (IFG) (IGT) were found 3.4 16.1% study population, respectively, whereas 2.6% had both IFG IGT. Based on an OGTT, newly diagnosed type 2 12.6% (31.0% 69.0% The prediabetic also increased cardiovascular disease risk factors.The large proportion undiagnosed cases reflects lack public awareness disease.
