ABSTRACT
Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) is a glycosylated derivative of hemoglobin and one family derivatives whose concentrations are elevated in patients with diabetes mellitus. Published methods for the measurement HbA1c relatively tedious require modest amounts blood. A high-performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) method determination presented. The rapid (20 minutes), precise (coefficient variation 5-10 per cent), uses small sample (3 microliter.), can be automated. preparation technique using filtration was developed that shortened simplified venous blood allowed use capillary samples. measured by this three age-stratified groups controls group insulin-requiring juvenile diabetics. There clear separation values between all normals (5.9 +/- 1.3, 5.6 0.7, 7.1 0.9 cent) diabetics (12.1 2.4 cent). Use facilitate large-scale clinical investigations permit biochemical metabolism formation where sizes necessary.
