ABSTRACT
Objective— To compare the effects of placebo and GLA on course mild diabetic neuropathy over 1 yr. Research Design Methods— We entered 111 patients with from seven centers into a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled parallel study at dose 480 mg/day. MNCV, SNAP, CMAP, hot cold thresholds, sensation, tendon reflexes, muscle strength were assessed by standard tests in upper lower limbs. Results— For all 16 parameters, change yr response to was more favorable than placebo, for 13 difference statistically significant. Sex, age, type diabetes did not influence result, but treatment effective relatively well-controlled poorly-controlled patients. Conclusions— had beneficial effect neuropathy.
