ABSTRACT
SUMMARY Purpose This study compared the whitening efficacy, side effects, and patients' preferences/perceptions of two systems similar peroxide concentration but different formulation delivery methods. Methods The tooth color change 24 participants was measured using a shade guide (BSG) spectrophotometer (ES). Color difference calculated: ΔE* = [(ΔL*)2 + (Δa*)2 (Δb*)2]1/2. One treatment randomly applied to right or left maxillary anterior teeth other contralateral teeth, at-home with 35% carbamide in tray (TW) 14% hydrogen strips (WS). evaluated at baseline, 15 30 days (15 postwhitening). Participants rated their soft tissue sensitivity (1–10 scale) completed questionnaire on preferences. Results were analyzed by repeated measurement regression analysis/Tukey Mann-Whitney (p<0.05). At days, treated TW WS presented 7 6, respectively (ΔBSG=3 for both), they 7.5 6.5, both). There no significant between treatments. No participant reported gingival postwhitening appointment. Of participants, 83% preferred over WS. Conclusion Both ΔBSG showed SW either time point. By end sensitivity. SW.
