Implementing Smart Working in Public Administration: a follow up study.

ABSTRACT
Starting from February 2020, in Italy most organizations have had a forced transition to flexible working practice - called "smart emergency" due the Covid-19 epidemic outbreak. This allowed continue work activities and services contributed contain risk of infection different sectors, particularly public administration.This follow up study focussed on panel 187 workers Italian Workers' Compensation Authority taking part pilot project "Smart Working INAIL" January 2019 December 2019. The aim was investigate effects organization attitudes, work-life balance health outcomes before after introduction smart working.The data were collected at two time points through web-based questionnaire. first wave aimed collect information one month implementation working. second about potential changes occurred year working.This showed that high demands, low control social support might lead reduced well-being less satisfaction with work, an effect engagement balance. Particularly, improving can moderate negative impact strain well-being, preventing imbalance isolation.Findings future perspectives are discussed stakeholders defining policies practices concerning wellbeing while preserving productivity, for successful administration.
