Developmental enamel defects of primary incisors in preterm infants with very low and extremely low birthweight. A case- control study.

ABSTRACT
AIM To determine the prevalence of developmental defects enamel (DDE) in primary incisors preterm very low birthweight (VLBW) and extremely (ELBW) one-year-old infants to compare findings with fullterm normal (NBW) infants. MATERIALS AND METHODS All were enrolled case-control study at birth. Personal information medical histories obtained through interviews parents from hospital records. The presence DDE was evaluated 82 one-year old delivered VLBW, 50 ELBW 58 NBW data statistically analysed by ANOVA chi-square tests, a statistical significance level p<0.05 established. Results diagnosed 19 (23.2 %) VLBW infants, 27 (54%) 4 (6.9%) control group. most frequent found case group hypoplasia 10 (12.2%) 14 (28%) opacities 6 (7.3%) 8 (16%) CONCLUSION results confirmed significantly higher than full term
