ABSTRACT
Dielectric resonator magnetoelectric dipole (DRMED) arrays with enhanced isolation, reduced cross-polarization, and backward radiation are proposed for base station (BS) applications. The antenna comprises an elevated dielectric (DRA) on a small metal plate above sizeable common ground plane. DRA is designed in its TE <inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">δ11</inf> mode, acting like magnetic dipole. surface current excited by the differential probes flowing plane equivalent to electric Since these two dipoles orthogonal, they have characteristics radiation. Meanwhile, planes can be treated as decoupling structures provide neutralization path cancel original coupling path. A linearly-polarized 4-element prototype array was verified experimentally previous work. Here, dual-polarized DRMED presented construct 2-element 4×4 BS To investigate MIMO performance, sophisticated multi-cell scenario simulations carried out. By using array, cellular system capacity improved 118.6% compared conventional array. This significant improvement mainly due and, therefore, inter-cell interferences. Measurements align well simulations.
