Study of the availability and accessibility of cereal and legume seeds (groundnuts, millet, cowpeas and sorghum) in the Thiès region of Senegal

ABSTRACT
The reorganization of the seed sector in Senegal, particularly Thiès region, and strengthening technical operational capacities research, control supervision structures constitute first strategic line for sustainable agriculture.This study focused on diagnosis system region through groundnut, cowpea, millet sorghum species, is conducted with 18 multiplier organizations 100 contractors, distributed 12 municipalities three departments ( Tivaouane, Mbour Thiès) 2022.The general objective to contribute improving availability accessibility quality seeds region.The methodology adopted consisted establishing questionnaires carrying out semi-structured interviews.These were administered various actors who are heads public private structures, operators (OPS), cooperatives, unions, federations, contractors producers.The results we have reached show that all an accreditation but only 81% make a crop declaration.The rate satisfaction needs estimated at 40% 76% cowpea against 71% sorghum.Furthermore, use certified relatively low groundnut (20%), (23%) (24%).At regional level, 60% players formal 56% team, including OPS, which operates approximately 472 ha 65 Study the…Khady NDOUR et al.
