ABSTRACT
In the age of digital business transformation, enterprises seek to increase their agility and speed IT delivery. To accomplish this, they change existing control-driven organizational structures processes establish separate modes for business-oriented traditional delivery ("bimodal IT"). Though concept bimodal has been discussed in practice, empirical research regarding approaches employed implement is scarce. This paper presents findings from a qualitative-empirical study on implementation nine companies. It identifies five different types these shows that specific mechanisms are applied enhance (business) alignment respective settings each type. On basis similarities differences among types, we develop propositions future derive implications practice.
