ABSTRACT
A critical function of animal movement is to maximize access essential resources in temporally fluctuating and spatially heterogeneous environments. Seasonally mediated resource fluctuations may influence movements, enabling them track changing distributions, resulting annual migration patterns. The conservation-dependent giant panda ( Ailuropoda melanoleuca) displays seasonal patterns; however, the key factor driving these patterns remains poorly understood. Here, we used GPS tracking collars monitor movements six pandas over a 12-year period across different elevations, performed statistical analysis directions, routes, habitat revisitation, home range overlap, first arrival events, stability. Our results revealed compelling pattern migrations that facilitated ability forage at appropriate time place nutritional intake. indicated utilize spatial memory locate reliable food resources, as evidenced by their return same or similar winter summer ranges consistently maintained percentage overlap. These novel insights into foraging ecology not only enhance our understanding its adapt nutritionally poor dietary but also provide important information for development utilization-based protection management strategies. .
