ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to classify the discourse response function marker ‘可不是(kebushi)’ and examine lexicalization process mechanism until it used as a marker. In study, analysis was conducted using dramas both preceding following utterances response.BR This examined by dividing into positive negative responses. A has functions consent, confirmation, feedback, courtesy. First, ‘consent’ most important ‘可不是(kebushi)’. utterance, speaker’s subjective opinion presented, respondent expresses complete agreement for with Second, utterance can ask other person question modal or counter-question, ‘confirmation’ whether not true. At time, give confirmation fact. Third, listeners chime in respond information conveyed speaker ‘feedback’. feedback listener at time signal that he/she accepted understood objective fact speaker.BR Lexicalization when two more words are combined be likely form like single vocabulary. diachronic change ‘可(ke)’ ‘不是(bushi)’ merged one became ‘可(ke)+不是(bushi)’ very first appeared interrogative sentences Tang Dynasty(唐代).
