ABSTRACT
The aim of the study was to select optimal content zirconium introduced as an alloying additive obtain best strength properties Al-Si alloy.A technically important disadvantage is tendency silumins form a coarse-grained structure that adversely affects mechanical castings.To improve structure, modification processes and additives are used, both which can effectively refine thus increase properties.According Hall-Petch relationship, finer higher alloy.The proposed addition element has beneficial effect on silumins, inhibiting grain growth.The starting material aluminium-silicon casting alloy designated EN AC-AlSi9Mg (AK9).Zirconium (Zr) added in amount 0.1%, 0.2%, 0.3%, 0.4% 0.5% by weight.From modified alloy, after verification chemical composition, samples were cast into sand moulds based phenolic resin.The first step research testing alloys with Zr (castability, density, porosity).In next step, castings determined.
